Special Assistance Network attends seminar on "Service, Assistance, and Emotional Support Animals"

The Special Assistance Network staff attended a seminar course on the difference between “service animals”, “assistance animals”, and “emotional support animals” sponsored by Law Practice CLE regarding when and where they must be allowed to accompany a disabled person, a special needs individual, or one that specifically needs some sort of assistance as outlined by the laws in all states in the United States. This includes places open to the public, housing, transportation, and the workplace. The seminar covered information from the American with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Fair Housing Act (FHA), and the Air Carrier Access Act (ACAA). The seminar covered all the types of disabilities that qualify; the species and breeds of animals that must be permitted; where they must be allowed to go; whether they must be trained to perform a specific task; whether they must be registered or certified; and the penalties and remedies for violations of the law. This seminar allowed Special Assistance Network staff to gain the proper knowledge and ability to consult and advise our clients when such issues arise.
